Ten JA Districts Award

I. Objective: For SDXA members to make contact with all ten of the Japanese call sign districts during any combination of the ten PNW DX Competition contests between 01 September and 31 August, our SDXA contest season.

II. The Ten PNW DX Contests:

  1. CQ WW RTTY, September
  2. CQ WW SSB, October
  3. CQ WW CW, November
  4. ARRL RTTY Roundup, January
  5. CQ WPX RTTY, February
  6. ARRL DX CW, February
  7. ARRL DX SSB, March
  8. CQ WPX SSB, March
  9. CQ WPX CW, May
  10. IARU, July

III. Bands: Bands are the ones allowed in each particular contest.  All have 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 m.  Some include 6 m and 160 m so check the rules for each contest.

IV. Modes: SSB, CW, RTTY or any combination of the five.

V. Entry Categories:

  1. Non-Million Point Club members may count contacts made in any of the ten contests.
  2. Million Point Club members must contact all ten JA districts in a single contest. Which contest is your choice.  You don’t have to choose the contest in advance.

VI. Log Submission: Simply submit a list with the date, time, mode, and the JA call sign to [email protected].

VII. Award:

  1. Non-Million Point Club members will receive a coffee cup with the name of the award and their call sign for the first year earned, then a certificate in following years.
  2. Million Point Club members will receive a certificate with the name of the award and their call sign.

VIII. Notes:

  1. You do not need to find the location of the JA operator. We will use the numeral after the prefix as the district.
  2. If the JA station has a forward slash (/) in the call, you can choose which numeral you want to use. An example is JJ2JQF/1.  It is your choice to use this station as a 2 or as a 1.
  3. JA districts 5 and 9 are not as common as the others.

Five by Six Award

I. Objective: For SDXA members to make contact with five DXCC entities on each of the six continents which are North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. The total of 30 contacts must be made during the ten PNW DX Competition contests.

II. The Ten PNW DX Contests:

  1. CQ WW RTTY, September
  2. CQ WW SSB, October
  3. CQ WW CW, November
  4. ARRL RTTY Roundup, January
  5. CQ WPX RTTY, February
  6. ARRL DX CW, February
  7. ARRL DX SSB, March
  8. CQ WPX SSB, March
  9. CQ WPX CW, May
  10. IARU, July

VI. Awards: All who accomplish this award will receive an engraved plaque with the name of the award and their call sign for the first year earned, then a certificate the following years.

VII. Notes:

  1. North America should be easy. Five common ones are K, KL, VE, KP4, and C6.
  2. South America should be easy. Five common ones are PJ2, PJ4, LU, PY, and HC.
  3. Europe should be easy. Five common ones are DL, F, EA, CT, and I.
  4. Asia might be tougher than you expect. Four common ones are JA, UA9, HL, and BY.
  5. Oceania might be tougher than you expect. Four common ones are KH6, KH2, ZL, and VK.
  6. Africa is a challenge. Three common ones are EA8, CT3, and CN.
