FEBRUARY 1, 2018 MEETING RECAP

by Randy Crews, President

  • [Rare DX] It was great to hear the excitement during the room around regarding the Kosovo activation and upcoming Bouvet operation – great recaps and stories ! .
  • .

  • [Rob Fanfantr N7QT] Rob Fanfant gave a real “brass tacks” presentation on the realities of going on a DXpedition. The Mellish Reef group had to deal with tremendous heat/humidity, operating and transportation logistics, not counting the barrage of QSLs to be answered. The top ten most wanted are rare for a reason as he pointed out, activating these rare entities is difficult, expensive, and operators put themselves at personal risk as well. Rob would welcome participants as he plans to activate a few rare ones in the top most wanted over the next few years.
  • .

  • [DXpedition Funding] Gary Swartout spoke for the DX funding committee saying the groups recommendation and focus will be on supporting the smaller expeditions and DX ventures.
  • .

  • [Constitutional Amendments] Keeping with the Constitution, the proposed amendments as posted on the club website were read and will be voted upon at the March 1st meeting.
  • .

  • [2018 Dues] Please remember to pay your club dues by March 1st if you have not done so.
