SPOKANE DX ASSOCIATION
Meeting of 5/2/02

The meeting was called to order at 7:02 PM by President Gary Elliott, K7OX. New visitors N7IRL and N7KR were introduced. An around-the-room introduction, plus an attendance sign-in list of those present, started the activities. Comments were:
• K7OX—worked K1B (Baker Is.)
• KE7AJ—RTTY DXing
• K7AWB—new mobile rig plus Force 12 5BA antenna ready to go
• N7KR—worked K1B, list of items for sale
• N5AR—working on 5 element 20 M KLM beam, will gamma feed the boom on 80 M
• W6AEA—worked K1B and chasing Mt. Athos
• K7EFB—working much DX
• K7TQ—worked K1B with QRP
• KC7MM—working much DX
• KC7QGV—new 50 foot tower in the works
• AC7MV– new 50 foot tower in the works
• N7IRL—new tower in the works
• W7JJL—new call (was KD7QVX), learning the DX ropes
• K7GS—worked Mt. Athos on RTTY
• AA7RT—working much DX
• W3AS—working DX on 40 M
• WA7LT—working on antennas as usual

K7OX then made the following announcements:

1. Our application for ARRL affiliation has gone through Headquarters and is now being reviewed by the NW Director and EWA Section Manager.
2. Sample badges were displayed. Gary will process more for $7 each as requested.
3. The Spokane Hamfest is scheduled for October 12. The special event station will be K7S, but the committee really needs our help with this one.
4. The club has established a technical committee.
5. We are working on obtaining our own web site (www.sdxa.com?).
6. We are looking for ideas on a club logo.
7. It was noted that there are many web sites with DX bulletins and contesting information. (See K7OX for details.)
8. W7RY’s 440 repeater is available for our use. WA7LT is to further check on this.

WA7LT gave a very brief summary of the Secretary’s report of the last meeting. AA7RT gave the Treasurer’s report which included income of $247.50 and expenses of $ 30.63.

The next meeting will be at 7 PM in the public library, 4322 North Argonne Road in the valley. The July meeting date falls on the July 4th holiday, so it will be adjusted.

Following the meeting K7TQ provided the NCDXA slide presentation of the St. Brandon DXpedition. It was enjoyed by all.
