Inactive To Active In Club Log – by Chuck KI7DG

.
After a year on no activity on Club Log, you become inactive. To become active again and have your totals help the SDXA in its Club Leagues and DXCC leagues, do the following:

1. Log in to Club Log and click the SETTINGS menu option at the top of most screens.
2. Click the red colored CALLSIGNS button.
3. For your call(s), ensure that the YES circle is checked in the SHOW IN LEAGUES? Column.

Note: a callsign is automatically set to “No – inactive” if no QSOs have been logged and uploaded during the past 12 months. The 12 month filter is built into Club Log and cannot be disabled in order to avoid the league tables becoming cluttered with inactive callsigns. Club Log and the leagues are intended for active amateurs.

Note: Lots of people misunderstand how this works. You must have logged a QSO dated in the last 12 months before you can change the “show in league?” option to ‘yes’ (at least one).

So, if you want your call or calls to appear in the leagues:

• Do not declare your call or calls “hidden”;
• Log at least one new QSO per year under each call;
• Upload your logs containing QSOs made within the past year; and
• Choose the relevant reporting options in the league tables

And don’t forget to use the HELP menu at the top right of each page for additional help.

BOUVET DXPEDITION

BOUVET ISLAND is the 4th most needed entity from our part of North America according the CLubLog’s information. Here is the latest news of their ocean journey to the “most remote island in the world.”

February 1, 2018, 1300 UTC: Our ship is still at anchor off the east side of Bouvet. Winds are 35 to 40 knots, and the ship is pitching and rolling up to 30 degrees. This makes flying and a landing attempt impossible today. The temperature is hovering at around 0 degrees C. Visibility has improved. We are poised and ready when a weather window opens. We had our maritime mobile station up for a few hours, but had to take it down again to avoid damage caused by the extreme motion of the ship.

1445 UTC: Winds have increased to 45 knots. Unsecured items are again sliding across floors and tables. Some team members are again feeling seasick. The barometer has risen, slightly. We are anxiously awaiting calmer conditions. Hang in there with us!

Ralph, KØIR

The DXpedition should be on the air soon. They plan to have 2 stations on the air continuously. Propagation will pick up significantly in late January as there will be almost 9 3/4 hours of daylight and the gains will accelerate dramatically in February. Any increase in solar activity will be a bonus.

JANUARY 4, 2018 MEETING RECAP

by Randy Crews, President

  • [Bouvet] Our chances are excellent with the outstanding operator compliment and duration of the DXpedition. Anticipating band changes at sunrise and sunset times will increase QSOs chances tremendously.
  • .

  • [Low Band Antennas] Bob W7SX gave us technical and practical tips on low band transmit antennas; receive antennas will be covered at a later date. All of us should take advantage of his impressive inventory of expertise.
  • .

  • [DXpedition Funding] A Vote was taken the motion PASSING. A funding committee is in place and will make recommendations and prioritize.
  • .

  • [Guest Speaker Funding] The motion was PASSED, a budget for the year determined, to facilitate Special Guest Speakers through 2018.
  • .

  • [Spokane Hamfest Seed Money] Seed money was authorized for the SDXA participation in the Spokane September hamfest this year (if there is one).
  • .

  • [Constitutional Amendments] Participation and Attendance Amendments were presented and will be voted upon at the February 1st meeting; wording will soon be posted on this website.
