The SDXA won a gavel from the ARRL for top score in the 2009 Sweepstakes contests (CW and SSB). Because Wilse WX7P got the top combined score, he was presented with the gavel and, in turn, gave it back to President Kirk to use at the meetings. This is the 4th gavel the Association has won since its inception.
