Olive in Spokane on Thursday, December 6, 2007.  The doors opened up  for a social at 6:00 and dinner was at 7:00.<\/p>\n<p>Our program was DXing and Traveling in Syria by Al Rovner, K7AR, of Vancouver, WA.  This presentation covered the YK9A DXpedition to Syria in February of 2001.  The slide presentation and discussion  covered the planning, logistics and operation of the expedition, plus visits to several historic and archaeological sites within Syria.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some past images of Al.<br \/>\n.<br \/>\n<img src='\/images\/K7AR2.jpg' alt='k7ar-1' \/><br \/>\nAl K7AR at the Montana station of W7LR in Bozeman.<br \/>\n.<br \/>\n<img src='\/images\/K7AR1.jpg' alt='k7ar-1' \/><br \/>\nAl K7AR vacationing at Yellowstone.<br \/>\n.<br \/>\nAl was licensed in 1971, and:<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2\tis an avid DXer<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2\tis a serious contester<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2\thandles \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Z\u00e2\u20ac\u009d suffix QSL cards for the W7 QSL Bureau<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2\tis an ARRL DXCC QSL card Field Checker<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2\thas operated the Portland area packet cluster since 1993<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2\ttravels about once per year on a DXpedition or contest trip<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2\tmanages the NW DX Convention in Portland every third year<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2                    runs DX Northwest at    <a href=\"http:\/\/www.k7ar.net\/\">http:\/\/www.k7ar.net\/<\/a><br \/>\n.<br \/>\n.<br \/>\nAl works for Sharp Corporation as a software engineer and holds a BSEE degree from Drexel University and a MSCS degree from Oregon Graduate Institute.  <\/p>\n<p>Dinner was a buffet style meal consisting of ham and turkey, dressing and potatoes, coffee or tea, etc. for $14.50 which included the gratuity.
