COMMENTS

*N7EF-F-Jim worked 2 places-Hong Kong, a new one, and North Ireland. Got some QSL’S in the mail and updated the SDXA website yesterday. He got the DX packet cluster up and running at Dan’s (N5AR).

*W6AEA-F-George worked Nepal this morning on CW. He also got some QSL’s in the mail. He also worked Somalia lately.

*W3AS-F-Doug acquired a FT-1000 Mark 5 at Puyallup. Doug visited JA3 and JA6 land this Month on business.

*K7EFB-F-Bill moved to the Good Samaritan Home, a nice place in the valley, recently. Doug W3AS mentioned that Bill has no phone yet so his only outside contact is by 2 meter radio.

*N7ER-F-Earl had no DX to report. Wants to get some radials on his vertical to help.

*WA1PMA-F-Wayne had no DX to report, but has been working some CW.

*KA7YHA-A-Eric is a new member and had no DX to report. Welcome Eric! I think you’ll enjoy the club and all the expertise and camaraderie here!

*WA7LT-F-Lamar reported no DX, but is getting ready for the CQ WPX CW contest later this month. He’s been busy finishing up antenna work for W7IDW’s estate. He did get the markers set for the backhoe for his third tower.

*K7OX-F-Gary had no DX to report. He’s been busy working with Betsy on the Fall Hamfest-trying to line up Vendors .

*K7AWB-F-Steve worked his 100th country on 17m today; got 85 cards so far! Steve says he gave up on DXCC on 12m for now-band is pretty quiet. He said he would be on 40m in the WPX contest. He also said Sporadic-E is opening up on 6m.

*KC7QGV-A-Marybeth had no DX to report, but says she’s been working hard on her code. Keep it up Marybeth!

*AC7MV-A- Dave had no DX to report

*WS7I-Jay just finished writing his ARRL “RTTY ROUNDUP” Web Report which he says has some good news about the club that we might want to check tomorrow (May 6). Jay says he’s also going to the Dayton Hamfest. Jay also said the Packet Cluster is up however Glenn’s Modem is temporarily down so it’s not getting the DX info. from N3RA. Should be back on line soon.

*WV7Y-F-Betsy hasn’t been on the radio for a while with the big move to the new house, but she’s looking forward to getting back on QRP and she’s looking forward to Field Day and the chance to do some camping.

*N5AR-F-Dan said his computer crashed and was a mess to get it reorganized and back up but it’s going now and he switched from Earthlink to Office Net but he only has phone line connection and he’s continuing his search for a “high speed” connection, and he’s hooked to the 2m packet cluster. Dan says the 2m DX Net on Thurs. Nites has been going fine and we’re always looking for more folks to participate in the good discussions.

*NQ7V-F-Corky reported some 6m DX with California. Corky also said Steve Phillabaum is selling all of his radio equipment and a 150 ft. tower and some antennas including a 6 element 20m beam.

*KD7OCT-A-Loren said about the only thing he worked resembling DX were 3 JA’S. He said he had an antenna problem with the SWR going up. He found water in the coax. Like Mother always said “waterproof all your connections” and sure enuf he had forgotten one so he replaced the coax and “viola”, end of problem.

*K7TQ-F-Randy participated in the ARCI QRP International Contest in early April. He usually finishes around the top ten but this year finished 3rd, and was pretty pleased with that. Also the “Fists” Fall 2000 winners were announced and Randy was No. 1 in the QRP category and would probably be ranked about 7th overall if they were listed that way. Great Effort and Outstanding results. Congratulations Randy!! In 2000 Randy worked JX7DEA and forgot to send a card ‘til this March and just got a return card.
