SDXA MEETING
FEBRUARY 1, 2007

Meeting was called to order by Lamar, WA7LT at 7:00 p.m.

Program was introduced and presented by Gary K7OX – Tour of ARRL Headquarters. Very good program and presentation.

Lamar welcomed the guests that were at the meeting. Linda Ganske (K6NTZ) would like to become a member of the club; she does have a need for transportation back and forth to meeting, however.

Ken Lindahl (W7KLL) has been having some heart problems. He states he is on the road to recovery now.

Loren Kirsch (KD7OCT) is still recovering from his stroke. We are all wishing him the very best and speediest of recoveries.

Minutes were accepted as sent out.

Treasurer’s report presented by Kirk, K7EKM. He is making upgrades to way the treasurers report is done and finances are handled at the bank and we are on our way to an easier report and balancing system. His treasurers report was received.

Doug (W3AS) would like to submit a club score for CQ World-wide 160 Meter Contest. Please turn in your logs.

KE7KPO is a new call sign for Carl Maki.

There were a couple of questions as to why we are no long on KABARA. May want to re-evaluate if we might want to possibly spend some time there this summer (?).

March Program: March 1, 2007 at 7 pm at the North Spokane Library on Hawthorne Road. The topic will be presented by Mike Alfonso, N7MCA, whose obsession in the maritime mobile ham/boating world will take him and his XYL from Alaska to South America. His fully fitted sail boat, the Last Mango, sets sail this Spring after a shake-down cruise last year. Amateur radio is the primary communications system aboard; his primary e-mail system is [email protected]. Mike’s presentation will show the fantastic photos of where he has sailed so far in checking out the boat along with the hamradio equipment and the installation issues on board. Mike spent quite a bit of time and effort designing and operating his radio room.

Reason for HAM: safety, communication, interest . Current radio’s: VHF(s)-3, ICOM 706 – associated Pactor eq, Yaesu VX-6R, Personal Locating Beacons (PLB / EPRB)-2.

Five months cruising in 2006, currently moored, Genoa Bay, Canada.Continue cruising full-time April 5, 2007. Intended – circumnavigation PacificOcean over several years.

Dues are due at this time. The end of February the dues became late. Our membership is 42 with 20-22 as full members.

April 2006 Program will consist of discussion for Field Day and Field Day preparation. What went well. What still needs improvement. Gary, K7OX will Chair Field Day this year.
