May 2006 Minutes

SPOKANE DX ASSOCIATION MINUTES
MAY 4, 2006
7:00 P.M.

Dale (WU7X) called the meeting to order.

We are doing things a bit differently this evening. We will have the
program presentation before the meeting.

The program for this evening was given by Lamar (WA7LT). The program was on
“How High Should your Antenna Go” and Lamar will complete this presentation
in June, so please plan to attend the next meeting for the very interesting
and informative conclusion to this program. There was also a short video
presentation (Potomic Valley Radio Club) that went with Lamar’s program.

Field Day Discussion:

KARS will be working with us this year.

Kirk (K7EKM) will be heading up the Phone Station and he reports that all is
coming along well.

Lamar will be heading up the CW Station and he reports the SDXA has
purchased a Transceiver.

GOTA will be helped along by the VHF Club and they will provide a turn key
station and we would provide a gap vertical.

Computer and Soft Ware – Kirk (K7EKM) is providing a computer to load up for
1 station (laptop)
Dale (WU7X) can provide an LCD CW Station that needs a serial board for
keying

Antennas will be headed up by Dan (N5AR). He has built 2 verticals. One
person can walk them up. Wayne (WA1PMA) has been helping out and they are
put together at Dan’s home. Dan feels it will all work well. A Dipole for
40 Meter is needed. Jim (NE7F) will volunteer a high tower for 80 Meters.
Wayne has built a radio system for it. An 80 Meter Dipole will be there as
well. There is going to be a total of 6 antennas with coax.

Generator – one is being provided by John (KE7CSF)

Kirk (K7EKM) has new coax (500 feet). It was decided that he would cut (2)
100 foot lengths and (2) 150 foot lengths and put connectors on them.

Food will be picked up by Mary Beth (KC7QGV) and David (AC7MV).

Motion to accept the minutes as presented on the Web Page (m/s/c)

The Treasurer’s Report was presented and given by Lamar (WA7LT).

Announcements:
Total cost of Insurance brought in by Lam is $325.00 yearly. This matter
will be discussed by the officers and then brought back to membership with a
recommendation. General consensus at this time is that it may just be too
expensive and not serve a good enough purpose.

Pacific North West DX Convention will be July 21, 22 and 23.

7th Call Area QSO Party will be May 6th and 7th. It will be from 6:00 a.m.
on the 6th through midnight on the 7th.

We received two new members this evening:
W7KLL Kenneth Lindahl
W7RJR Robert Raymond
Welcome to both of you.

Lamar (WA7LT) reminded us that distribution of Field Day responsibilities
need to be shared and two major things need to be remembered.
Have a good performance socially
Have a lot of participation shared by all

No new information from Hamfest.

There will be some new items coming up for sale as soon as Kirk (K7EKM) gets
them dismantled. He is dismantling a tower and will have sections and parts
available for sale.
